The thin sections from the Bronze Age Tumulus are finished! Look at these beauties! The sediment was very clayey so the samples were quite challenging to prepare. We thinned the resin a bit more than usual to improve the impregnation of the clay (although clay is impermeable). We had to be extra careful during the grinding stage and had to do several mountings as the slides were not grinding evenly. Clay is the trickiest of all! It is always unpredictable. But the final slides look very good and so interesting! We hope the geoarchaeologist will be able to tell a lot about the construction and maintenance of the tumulus.
