Thin sections from Portuguese shell midden

Terrascope has completed the manufacture of micromorphological thin sections from a Portuguese shell midden. The block samples were taken in plaster. The plaster had to be pierced to allow the penetration of the polyester resin under vacuum. Only mammoth slides have been produced, one or two per sample. The impregnation revealed good and the grinding went well. The samples have a very low density so it was necessary to grind very slowly and to finish the polishing by hand. The resulting thin sections are very nice and we hope the researcher will appreciate them!
